Position:         Yard Manager

Reports To:   Construction Dispatcher

Status:            Full Time, Exempt

General Summary:
The Yard Manager will lead all yard operations to maximize efficiency. The yard is an essential function to the field team members and jobsites. In charge of all deliveries and delivery of equipment, heavy equipment operator.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Comply with all Wieser Brothers safety policies.
  • Lead team members who work in the yard.
  • Purchase all vehicles along with tools & equipment for each department of the organization and identify them in tool watch.
  • Purchase all materials for the shop inventory & consumables.
  • Oversee the scheduling of all equipment for Delivery and Heavy Equipment Coordinator, & constant communication.
  • Oversee, maintain, and ensure efficiency all yard inventory and adjust pricing for materials, consumables & rented out items as needed with inventory system.
  • Responsible for the organization of the yard and all grounds in and around the shop, snow removal, dumps, & roll off box.
  • Schedule transportation of big items lifts for the Delivery and Heavy Equipment Coordinator.
  • Direct team members to organize the shop buildings and yard.
  • Hire team members for the yard and create their schedules.
  • Approve invoices for tools and yard inventory up to a set dollar amount, above needs additional approval.
  • Schedule & coordinate runs for small deliveries with our runner.
  • Receives and executes all field orders for materials, tools, equipment.
  • Oversee and manage inventory of building materials, consumables & tools
  • Direct communication back to field staff of any items or orders that cannot be filled.
  • Assign necessary delivery vehicles based on size of orders and logs where they are daily.
  • Maintain working relationship with vendors.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Past experience in a leadership role
  • Ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions
  • Perform duties in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Ability to write and speak effectively to individuals and groups
  • Basic understanding of financial principles
  • Ability to analyze and interpret internal reports
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience
  • Work Hours: 6:00am to 4:30pm, 10 hour days, salaried position

Physical, Mental and Other Requirements:

  • Willingness to learn
  • Positive attitude
  • Exposure to hot, cold, wet and humid conditions
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize daily assignments.
  • Frequent bending and stooping
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to use a forklift/skid loader
  • Able to climb stairs, ladders, trucks and trailers
  • Valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record required
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check.
